How do I clear a CBRN mask for an unconscious casualty?
I was asked a question recently and can't find the answer. If you come across a casualty who is unconscious in a CBRN environment, how do you clear their mask?
Provided there is no severe trauma to the chest or stomach area, place the casualty on their back. Place your hands over the mask outlet valves and sit on their stomach. This will force the air out of their lungs and through the mask causing it to clear. You need to make sure the mask is properly sealed before attempting to clear it.
